Lookup Raleigh County Inmate Records

Raleigh County inmate records are searched through West Virginia regional jail and corrections systems rather than a sheriff-run county roster. To look up Raleigh County inmates online, start with the jail roster for current regional jail custody, then use daily admissions, court records, or a prison locator when the person is newly booked, released, sentenced, or held under another authority. The Raleigh County jail roster search helps confirm custody, but a full record check may also require a phone call, in-person request, public-records request, DOC search, federal locator, ICE lookup, or VINE notification.

Raleigh County Inmate Search Fields

The jail roster and daily admissions tools answer different questions. The roster is a name search for jail custody. Daily Incarcerations is useful when the person was booked today or when the county or institution is the better starting point. Southern Regional Jail serves seven counties, so the institution view can include people who do not have a Raleigh County case.

Use Raleigh County Jail Records

A clean Raleigh County jail roster search starts with custody status. If the person was just arrested, Daily Incarcerations may show the admission before a broader name search is useful. If the person was sentenced or transferred, the jail search may no longer be the right tool. If the case is federal, immigration, or court-only, the roster may confirm little or nothing.

  1. Open the WVDCR offender search hub and choose Offender Search for Jails.
  2. Search with at least three letters of the last name, then add first name if needed.
  3. Use Daily Incarcerations and select Raleigh County for same-day county admissions.
  4. Check Southern Regional Jail by institution when the person may be held there for another county or federal authority.
  5. Call Southern Regional Jail if the result is unclear, new, or tied to a hold.
  6. Use the court portals for charges, bond orders, and final case action.

The Daily Incarcerations page showed Southern Regional Jail admissions by institution in the research capture.

The daily view is best for new admissions because it organizes current booking activity by county or jail.

Raleigh County Roster Record Fields

The inspected Southern Regional Jail admissions summary exposed a limited list of fields. It did not provide every item people often expect from a jail profile. The static View Details request returned to the search form during research, so the inventory below is limited to what was visible in the official admissions list. For booking photos, use the separate Raleigh County jail mugshots discussion because the research did not confirm that a public photo appears in each record.

Raleigh County Records Access Chain

Raleigh County inmate records are split by custodian. WVDCR holds regional jail custody data. The Raleigh County Sheriff's Office may hold sheriff-created incident reports, warrants served by deputies, and other law-enforcement records in its custody. Magistrate and circuit courts hold filed complaints, dockets, orders, and court documents. A public-records request should go to the office that maintains the record, not to every agency at once.

For public records, West Virginia FOIA allows requests to the custodian under W. Va. Code §29B-1-3. A useful request identifies the person's full name, date of birth if known, date or range, facility, arresting agency, case or booking number if known, the record sought, preferred delivery method, and willingness to pay lawful copy fees. Exemptions in §29B-1-4 may apply to investigative, privacy, and correctional-security material.

Raleigh County Booking Process

For most Raleigh County arrests, the likely booking point is Southern Regional Jail unless the person is cited and released, taken for medical care, or held by another authority. Booking is the administrative entry into custody. Intake normally includes identity confirmation, property inventory, security screening, medical or mental-health screening, classification, and housing assignment. WVDCR did not publish a precise rule for how fast a new booking appears online.

After arrest, West Virginia Magistrate Criminal Rule 5 requires the person to be taken before a magistrate without unnecessary delay. If the person is detained in a regional jail before the initial appearance, video conferencing may be used by a magistrate in the charging jurisdiction when available. The magistrate advises rights and addresses bail. Roster labels can lag or differ from court filings, so Raleigh County court records after jail arrest are needed to verify the formal charge path.

Raleigh County Jail Visitation

Southern Regional Jail visitation is non-contact and must be scheduled in advance. The official WVDCR page says the inmate must submit SRJ form 5-0029. Each visit is 30 minutes, and each inmate is permitted one visit per month. The visit limit is one adult and two minor children or two adults unless special approval is granted. Special visits go to the Chief Correctional Officer and may require proof of unusual circumstances.

Raleigh County Inmate Contact

WVDCR central service pages control mail, deposits, calls, video, and messaging for state-run jail and prison facilities. Letters to WVDCR offenders must use the central Phoenix, Maryland mail-processing address and must include the inmate's first and last name, OID number, full facility name with no abbreviation, and a complete sender return address. The mail page states that photos are not allowed in envelopes and envelopes with photos will be returned.

WVDCR offender banking lists phone deposits at 888.988.4768, web deposits through ConnectNetwork.com, the ConnectNetwork app, and money orders with a GTL Financial Services form. The money-order form lists a maximum money order amount of $300 and fees ranging from $3 to $6 depending on amount. WVDCR also says it has contracted with GettingOut for calling and video visits. Confirm custody before sending funds, because a released or transferred person may not be reachable through the same facility account.

Raleigh County DOC Federal ICE

If the person is no longer in the regional jail search, use the right locator for the custody type. The WVDCR prison offender search covers active prison, parole, or supervision status and can be searched by OID or by first and last name. Discharged people do not appear. BOP Inmate Locator covers federal sentenced inmates, including people at FCI Beckley. ICE ODLS covers immigration detention, but no ICE facility in Raleigh County was identified.

West Virginia VINE is available for custody-status notification. It is not a full records portal. The research also found a statewide West Virginia Sheriff Connect app listing, but no official Raleigh County page confirmed Raleigh participation or an app-only Raleigh roster. Treat any app mention as a possible communication channel, not as a verified inmate-record source.

These facilities should not be searched as if they were ordinary Raleigh County jail bookings. Beckley Correctional Center and Jail is a WVDCR placement facility, while FCI Beckley is federal. A person may have a Raleigh County court history and still be absent from the jail roster because custody has shifted to one of these systems.
